Prepare the clinic stationery
An owner sets the default stationery in Settings → Clinic details → Prescription stationery. Use a clear PNG, JPEG or WebP logo and choose its position. Add the header note and footer you want patients to receive, then choose A4 or A5 as the clinic default.
The document uses clinic contact details and the prescribing doctor’s qualifications and registration number. Update those details in Settings before printing, rather than trying to edit the downloaded PDF.
- Check the clinic name, address and contact details.
- Upload a clear logo and review the header and footer text.
- Check the doctor’s name, qualifications and registration number in Doctors & hours.
- Save the settings and preview a prescription on the intended paper size.
Review medicines and instructions
In the consultation, enter each medicine with its intended strength, dose, frequency, route and duration. Use Medicine instructions for directions specific to that medicine. Keep separate medicines as separate entries so the patient can read each one clearly.
Use the ordering arrows before finalising if you want medicines in a different sequence. Review the advice as well as the medicine list: finalising the prescription saves the advice with it. Talven prints what the clinician enters; it does not complete missing treatment details.
Print a copy
Use the controls on the finalised prescription. Wait for the PDF to finish preparing, choose Clinic default, A4 or A5, and select Preview to check the layout. Print prescription opens the prepared document for printing.
- Confirm the patient, doctor, medicine list and instructions in Preview.
- Choose the same paper size in Talven and in the printer dialog.
- Use 100% scale and check the full page preview for clipping.
- Print a single copy first and sign it by hand.
A4 and A5 are different physical sheet sizes. Selecting A5 in Talven while leaving the printer on A4 can change the apparent size or placement of the content.
If the output is not right
If the print button is still disabled, wait for preparation to finish. If an error appears, check the clinic print settings and use Try again. Download PDF can also help you open the prepared document in a local PDF viewer.
For clipped or unexpectedly small output, check the paper size and scale in both places. For a blurry logo, replace the source image with a clearer version rather than enlarging a small image. If clinic or doctor information is missing, correct the corresponding settings and prepare the document again.
If the prescription content itself is wrong, correct it through the clinical workflow. Do not manually alter the downloaded PDF and treat it as the stored clinical record.
