Start with the everyday controls
Press Tab to move to the next control and Shift + Tab to go back. Enter opens a link or activates a focused button. Space selects a checkbox or activates a button. In a text area, Enter adds a new line.
The first link when you tab into a page is Skip to content. Press Enter to move past the sidebar and header. Focused controls have a visible outline, so you can follow where you are on the page.
Open the keyboard button in the clinic header, or press ? while you are not typing. The guide lists available shortcuts and an On this page index. Choose a section to move directly to its heading; Tab continues into that section’s controls.
Fill and save a form
Entry dialogs begin at their first field. Fill the form using Tab and Shift + Tab. Select menus support their usual arrow keys, typing to find an option, and Enter to choose it.
Where a shortcut hint is shown beside Save or Add, Command + Enter or Control + Enter submits that form. Required fields, availability checks and disabled buttons still apply. When a field inside a closed optional section is invalid, the section opens so you can correct it.
If the server rejects a form, your entered values stay in place and focus moves to the error explanation. Correct the entry and try again. An error is not a successful save.
In patient search inside a booking dialog, use the arrow keys and Enter to select a patient from the results. The first Escape closes the results; a second Escape closes the dialog. Closing a dialog returns focus to the button that opened it.
A save shortcut is available only where its hint appears. Signing, record release, deletion and payment actions require their own buttons.
Document a consultation
Use the Note, Prescription, Observations and Follow-up links above the consultation to jump to the work you need. Inside the note, Jump to a field moves directly to History, Examination, Assessment, Plan or Patient instructions.
Command + S or Control + S saves the draft while focus is inside the note form. Command + Enter or Control + Enter also saves it. Enter by itself still adds a line in a multiline field. Check the saved status before moving on; saving does not finalise the note.
Open Add medicine and enter the prescription item. Command + Enter or Control + Enter adds it and returns to the empty Medicine field, ready for the next item. Repeat as needed, then Escape returns to the prescription. Review the medicine list before signing.
Observation and follow-up forms also show their submission shortcut. A successful submission displays a confirmation and returns to the first field. Record one observation or follow-up at a time.
Move through the calendar
Open Choose calendar date. Left and Right move one day; Up and Down move one week. Home and End move to the start and end of the week. Page Up and Page Down change the month; add Shift to change the year. Enter selects the date and Escape closes the picker.
The Previous month and Next month buttons keep focus when activated, so you can press Enter repeatedly. Appointment lists support Up, Down, Home and End after you tab to a visit. In the desktop day view, Enter selects a visit and moves focus to its details; Tab then reaches its available actions.
Available booking times are radio choices. Tab into the choices, use the arrow keys to move between them, and continue with Tab. Confirm the selected doctor, date and time before booking.
Choose the shortcuts that suit you
The keyboard guide contains a Single-key shortcuts setting. Turn it off if G, / or ? overlap with your screen reader, dictation software or another tool. Your choice is remembered in this browser. The keyboard button and Command / Control shortcuts remain available.
Single-key page shortcuts pause while you are typing, composing text, using a select control or working in an open dialog. You can continue to use the mouse and normal Tab navigation at any time.
